V.I.O.C. is honoured to invite both male and female judoka, juniors* that are 13 years of age and under 16 years of age, Young Men and Young Women 16 years of age and not to turn 20 years in the year of the championships, and seniors, 16 years of age and over on the date of the Championships from your country or state to participate in the

Saturday October 4th and Sunday October 5th 2008.

5. WEATHER CONDITIONS:

October in Melbourne is late winter. The temperature can range from 10-20 degrees Celsius with accompanying winds, rain and sunshine.

7. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY:

The Conditions of entry are as follows:

a. Payment by 05.09.08 of entry fee of AUD $45.00 per competitor, with the exceptions as stated in clause 17 below.

b. Late entry fee of AUD $90.00 will be accepted prior to 26th September 2008.

c. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED ON OR AFTER 26th September 2008.

d. Each participant will be required to provide PHOTO proof of identity and membership of the J.F.A lnc. or a recognised I.J.F. Federation.

e. Hold the grade of San Kyu (Green belt) or above except as stated below in clause 13.

f. The questionnaire/entry form AND ENTRY FEES should be in the hands of:

NO LATER than 05.09.08 together with the relevant fees or as a late entry prior to 26.09.08 together with the relevant fees.

g. Division changes will be accepted prior to 26th September 2008 and will attract a further fee of AUD$45.00

h. Additional category entries (ie Boys and Young Men) will attract an additional fee of AUD$20.00

i. The Organising Committee reserve the right to abandon and/or amalgamate weight divisions in the interests of the competitors

8. REFEREES:

Must hold a National License with their National Federation. The Victorian State referees are excempted from this requirement.

9. MANAGERS, COACHES AND REEEREES:

Managers, coaches and referees should all complete the questionnaire/entry form to gain the ID card and free entry to the venue.

10. JUDOGI:

Each competitor 16 years of age and above MUST be prepared with both blue and white judogi as stated in the contest rules of the I.J.F.
This rule does not apply to the junior competitors

13. AGE GROUPS AND WEIGHT DIVISIONS:

JUNIOR AGES:

GIRLS* & BOYS*
- 13 years and under 16 years on the day of the contest.

Weights:
BOYS: U/38 kg; U/42 kg; U/46kg; U/50kg; U/55kg; U/60kg; U/66kg; U/73kg; U/81kg O/81kg.
GIRLS: U/40kg; U/44kg; U/48kg; U/52kg; U/57kg; U/63kg; U/70kg; O/70kg.

· Boys and Girls who are 12 years of age and hold the grade of Ik Kyu (Brown Belt) may compete in the Boys and Girls divisions .
· Under these conditions they must wear a green belt.

YOUNG MEN & YOUNG WOMEN
16 years on the day of the tournament and under twenty years in the year of the tournament.

Weights:
YOUNG MEN: U/55 kg; U/50 kg; U/66 kg; U/73 kg; U/81 kg; U/90 kg; U/100 kg; O/100 kg.
YOUNG WOMEN: U/48 kg; U/52 kg; U/57 kg; U/63 kg; U/70 kg; U/78 kg; O/78 kg

SENIOR AGES:

16 years and over on the day of the contest.* Boys and Girls, 15 years of age who hold the grade of Ik Kyu, (Brown Belt) may compete in the Young Peoples and Senior divisions. Under these conditions they must wear a green belt.

Weights:
I.J.F. weight divisions for both Senior Men and Senior Women plus Open divisions.

14. SEEDING AND ELIMINATION PROCEEDURES:

In the Junior divisions with 6 or more entries the previous years medallists will be seeded with Gold and Silver medallists in opposite halves of the draw and the Bronze medallists will take the remaining quarters. The remaining entries will be placed by random draw and the divisions will be eliminated by double elimination.

In the case of 5 or less entries the division will be eliminated by Round Robin with entries from the same state/country being the first competitors.

In the Senior and Young Peoples divisions with 6 or more entries. There will be a maximum of eight seeded positions. In the first instance the previous years medallist will be seeded with the Gold and Silver medallists in opposite halves of the draw and the Bronze medallists taking the remaining quarters followed by the top four position holders in the Australian National points system. Should any one or more of these positions contain a previous years medallist then the next highest ranked player on the Australian National points system will be included in the seeding to a maximum of eight seeded positions. The remaining entries will be placed by random draw and the divisions will be eliminated by double elimination.

In the case of 5 or less entries the division will be eliminated by Round Robin with multiple entries from the same State/Country being the first competitors.

15. AWARDS:

A Gold medal will be awarded where a competitor is undefeated and has won a minimum of one contest.

A Silver medal will be awarded where a competitor has been defeated once and there is a minimum of three entries in the division.

One Bronze medal will be awarded in a Round Robin elimination with a minimum of four entries in the division.

Two Bronze medals will be awarded in a division of six or more competitors: one to each of the winners in the losers pools.

17. ENTRY FEES:

AUD$45.00 per competitor MUST BE RECEIVED PRIOR TO 05.09.08 or the entry will be classified as a late entry as in clause 7, Conditions of Entry, payable by Cheque/ Money Order to:-

Entry fees are waived for any Federation entering an official National Team in an age group consisting of one competitor in each weight division. (Excluding Australian and Australian State entries). Additional competitors outside the National Team may be entered on receipt of an entry fee.

There is no restriction on the number of entries into a weight division from any state or country in either the male or female , junior or senior categories, however refer to the above for the regulations governing the payment of fees.
